I’m Terresa Roden, currently living in Milewaukee, WI (US). I’m working in a call center at the moment, enjoying the fact that I get asked if I’m a recording from time to time. It’s rather fun to greet a caller and get a brief pause when I finish only to have the caller ask if I’m a real person. My answer is usually some variation of “As far as I know they haven’t replaced me with a machine” or “Last time I looked I was a real person” followed by amused laughter from myself and the caller.
I spent most of my early life in Minnesota, first in the small town of Aitkin, going to college in Crookston and then moving to Minneapolis-St.Paul until I shifted to Milwaukee in the late 1990’s. I’ve held various jobs, usually in some type of support staff role and I currently work in a call center doing both inbound and outbound work. What makes the job satisfying to me is the fact that I get to indulge my passion for helping people. Incoming calls are for help with various companies products – placing orders, subscriptions, missed issues, etc.
In April of 2006, I turned 50 years young. At that time I began to consider my life and what I had done with it. As I looked back, I realized that I had never really answered the question “Who do I want to be when I grow up?” As I began searching myself for the answer to that question, I was also looking for ways to increase my income by finding some sort of online business. I tried several things with little success, but in that process I met several people who began to mentor and encourage me, among them Sally Witt and Kim Mutch Emerson. Both Kim and Sally were great supporters as I worked through the process of “Who do I want to be?” and suggested developing the questions I was uing for my own search into a workbook that could be of assistance to others going through the same process.
By the end of 2008, the “Uniquely Me LifeBook” first edition was completed and made available on the web as an eBook, available at my website http://www.theresaroden.com . I have created a Skype room, and a Yahoo group that are available to users of the LifeBook for ongoing support and questions.
One of my talents is “pulling rabbits out of hats” for people. In the course of conversations I often come up with “outside the box” answers to problems that people are experiencing. I look forward to developing a consulting clientele of people looking for a sounding board for brainstorming and problem-solving as part of my business.

Happiness:
Accept These 2 Facts & Be Happy Forever
By Kelly Price
There are two facts that if you accept them you can achieve happiness.
In fact anyone can be happy – Happiness is a choice - you are not born happy, just as you are not born sad.
You have to decide which you want to be and accepting thee two facts below will help you.
1) Accept What You Have
You may look at someone and want to be as good looking as them, or as rich as them but fact is you may not be and will never be.
Life is not fair as we all know and in our lives we all encounter situations where we feel we are hard done by.
The fact is you can’t do anything about it.
You need to accept what you have and make the best of it.
It maybe a cliché but there is always someone worse off than you.
When you think you’re hard done by, think of the millions of people around the world who have a far worse life than you, if you read a paper on any day you will find them.
From children born with aids into extreme poverty, to people who have illnesses that make us wonder how they cope at all.
A good example of a person accepting their lot was the actor Christopher Reeve.
He had it all -wealth, fame, looks and a loving family but suffered horrific injuries in a horse riding accident that, left him paralyzed from the waist down.
Dip he get depressed?
Did he simply sit back and say life’s not fair?
No he didn’t - he got on with life, set himself targets and set out to prove that he could walk again and inspire others with his efforts.
He never achieved his aim, but found a new purpose in life by helping others and trying to achieve his aim and felt gratitude for the love of his family and others around him.
So when you feel a bit depressed and think life’s not fair think of Christopher Reeve and the countless millions of people around the world that remain happy and are in a far worse position than you.
2) Do Things to Make You Happy
There are certain things we can all do, with a bit of motivation to make us happy.
While you have to accept certain things in life others are within your reach and can make you happier.
Get motivated and think what can I achieve?
This is different to what you may want to achieve, so be realistic.
The fact is everyone can do things to make themselves happy if their motivated.
They may be simple things like, changing your job, taking up a sport, or just simply being good to people around you.
You may find that a simple change such as seeing good in other people and being nice to others makes a dramatic difference to your life.
By being nice to others, you will find they are nice to you and this can open up all sorts of opportunities to make your life better.
In fact loving and being loved, is perhaps one of the simplest ways to achieve happiness.
Being happy is simple:
Accept what you have
and make the best of it!
Achieving happiness
really is that simple!

A knock at the door

When we least expect it there will be a change in our life, will you be
ready if when that happens?
Are you set in your ways that you are unable to change and fixed in
your thinking?
It is the second week of the new year , how are you doing so far to
goals that were set in the wee hours of New Years Eve?
A goal needs to be worked towards each and every day, not just once
in awhile and let it slide by or it will not be accomplished.
Was the goal to loose weight or to be more active ?
Then take those steps and life style changes, right now ...yes.
Take yourself away from the computer and grab your coat
and put on your walking shoes.
Make a plan maybe you dont know which way to head, walk
to a different neighbourhood. You will be amazed if you take the
time to look at the different buildings.
If the weather is not the suitable then how about walk in the mall,
most malls open up early just for that purpose.
Each step is one more in the right direction, before long the four
block walk will become six.
A walking partner makes it so much nicer, or maybe a tape to
listen too.
If the plan was to improve your ability in learning a new language
or a new skill, the community college has excellent part time
classes in many different areas of interest.
Giving of yourself and volunteer the ideas are endless.
The winter will pass and with it will you have the new outlook
for the birth of spring.
If it is a change due to a breakup of change in your life due to
partners that are no more, then learn to love again.
But first you must learn to love yourself and be at peace with
yourself. Take the time to renew and rejoice in life, learn
the splendor that life has to offer.
Time will make hurt that much easier if you let yourself grieve.
Its a process of life , just as the night ends. There is a promise
of another day with the sunrise.
If the sadness does not leave your heart, then I urge you to seek
a professional that can help you.
Will you be ready for the knock on the door.
Share with me and comment on your ideas of life and the
challanges you face, I want to hear back from you.
